Shannon Cochran is a native of small-town Fairfield, Iowa, but currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio. Recently, she completed her M.M. in vocal performance at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, studying voice under Dr. Gwendolyn Detwiler. Her most recent engagements include, working with Libby Larsen at the John Duffy Institute with Virginia Arts Festival, collaborating with John Harbison on his composition “Vocalism,” and playing Cunegonde in Bernstein’s Candide at CCM. In June, she returned to Memphis to work with the Memphis Repertory Orchestra on their first fellowship program.
In the summer of 2017, she was seen making her debut with the Memphis Repertory Orchestra as their featured soprano soloist. In her first year at CCM, she played a Modista in Cendrillon, as well as, performed scenes as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito. In May 2016, she graduated from Northern Arizona University where she received her B.M. in vocal performance. While at NAU, she performed various roles including, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Lilli/Kate in Kiss Me, Kate, Leonora in The Long Christmas Dinner, Velma in scenes from Chicago, and Nerone in L’incoronazione di Poppea.
Her professional theatre credits include, Ms. Pemberton in The Orphan Train under the direction of Patricia Birch, Fiona in Shrek! The Musical with Great Plains Theatre, Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray and Rapunzel in Into the Woods with Way Off Broadway.
