Nicholas Kelliher is an up-and-coming countertenor, originally from Baldwin, New York. During this past season, he portrayed Man Under the Arch in Kevin Puts’s opera The Hours with Opera Fusion: New Works, in collaboration with Cincinnati Opera and the Metropolitan Opera. In the 2019-2020 season, he portrayed Arsace in Handel’s Partenope, and Third Spirit in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (cancelled due to COVID-19), both with CCM Opera. During the 2018-19 season, he portrayed Endimione in Cavalli’s La Calisto with CCM Opera. Additionally, he sang the role of Orpheus’ Double in Matthew Aucoin’s Eurydice with Opera Fusion, commissioned by The Metropolitan Opera and LA Opera, to much success. Mr. Kelliher was to make his operatic debut in Summer 2020 with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, playing The Spirit in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and singing the alto soloist in Bach’s Weinen Klagen (cancelled due to COVID-19). An avid teacher, Mr. Kelliher has maintained a private studio for three years. Mr. Kelliher received a Masters Degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and will pursue his Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from CCM as well, both under the tutelage of Dr. Gwen Coleman. He was awarded the encouragement award at the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and was a National Finalist in the National Opera Association competition in 2020. When not singing or teaching, Mr. Kelliher is an avid long-distance runner and CrossFit enthusiast.
